Soukaina Joual uses the language and other forms of expression as a position. She tries to debunk certain connotations that are tied to spoken or passed down phrases. Delivering a political and social message to citizens, graffiti is a practice that has been found everywhere in the world since ancient times. The illicit side of this inscription and the urgency of the street make it possible to be reactive and to give meaning to the message registered. By breaking up مذبوح على الطريقة الإسلامية (slaughtered in the Muslim way) in four parts, each tagged on a different wall in Rabat, Joual gives passersby a fragment of thought, which can resonate with them like an echo that penetrates their (un)consciousness.
If the words exploded in the street keep an element of mystery, from which a plurality of meanings is born, the solution of the enigma can be read in the Cube thanks to a video installation which reconstitutes the sentence in its entirety.
