نوح Noah, 2023
Acrylic on paper
24 cm x 32 cm /each
The six miniatures represent a recycled popular image of Noah نوح biblical moment when he was commanded by God to build an Ark, ultimately saving not only his own family, but mankind itself and all land animals, from extinction during the Flood, which God created after regretting that the world was full of sin. This image is usually printed on a large scale and sold in the souks in Africa and Asia.
The work deconstructs this image by separating its different layers where each of them holds one of the elements that make up the image. It engages with the social perception that is tied to this historical imagery. By dissecting the myth behind it, the work analyzes the relationship between fiction and reality, and the representation of this narrative in modern culture.
